Strawberries!

Easily one of the most popular and most fragrant berries not to mention one of the tastiest!  These versatile berries are perfect to snack on, in smoothies, as jams and spreads, thrown in salads, on yogurt, in cereal or as a simple desert. 

Strawberries are a superfood, full of vitamins, antioxidants, enzymes & minerals. They are excellent for the Immune & Respiratory Systems, Skin,  are Anti-Inflammatory & protect the brain from oxidative damage.  Their little seeds even contain small amounts of Essential Fatty Acids! 

Strawberries contain a surprising amount of Vitamin C, some A and Vitamin K, a vitamin necessary for proper blood clotting and Vitamin D  & calcium absorption.  

Their bright colour lends itself to a flavonoid called Anthocyanins. Flavonoids are great for dealing with inflammatory issues inside and on the body. Issues like; asthma, allergies, acne & arthritis and also protect the body from free radical damage. 

Another great thing about Strawberries is that they are grown in Canada! You can buy them from local farmers and even pick your own.  Make sure they are organic, Non GMO & rinse them well.  Strawberries unfortunately do not last long, only a few days once picked so use them fresh or freeze them for later use.
